Son nom d\u00e9rive d&rsquo;ailleurs du mot gaulois <strong>\u00ab\u00a0epos\u00a0\u00bb<\/strong>, qui signifie \u00ab\u00a0cheval\u00a0\u00bb. Elle est la seule divinit\u00e9 celtique dont le culte s&rsquo;est \u00e9tendu \u00e0 travers tout l&rsquo;Empire romain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ce qu&rsquo;elle incarne<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>La souverainet\u00e9 et le monde \u00e9questre :<\/strong> Epona est la ma\u00eetresse des chevaux. Elle prot\u00e8ge les cavaliers, les voyageurs et le b\u00e9tail. Sa pr\u00e9sence aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s d&rsquo;animaux si essentiels pour la guerre et le transport souligne sa puissance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>La fertilit\u00e9 et l&rsquo;abondance :<\/strong> Epona est \u00e9galement associ\u00e9e \u00e0 la fertilit\u00e9. On la repr\u00e9sente souvent avec une corne d&rsquo;abondance ou entour\u00e9e de poulains, ce qui la lie directement \u00e0 la prosp\u00e9rit\u00e9 et aux cycles de la vie.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Le passage vers l&rsquo;au-del\u00e0 :<\/strong> Le cheval est un animal qui sert de guide dans de nombreuses mythologies. Epona, en tant que d\u00e9esse \u00e9questre, pourrait avoir jou\u00e9 un r\u00f4le d&rsquo;accompagnatrice des \u00e2mes vers l&rsquo;au-del\u00e0.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ses repr\u00e9sentations<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Epona est presque toujours repr\u00e9sent\u00e9e avec un cheval. On la voit souvent assise en amazone sur une monture ou debout entre deux chevaux.
