Son nom et les d\u00e9couvertes arch\u00e9ologiques le d\u00e9signent comme le dieu des forgerons, des artisans et de la m\u00e9tallurgie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u00c9tymologie et r\u00f4le<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Nom :<\/strong> Son nom, \u00ab\u00a0Gobannus\u00a0\u00bb, vient de la racine celtique <em>goban<\/em>, qui signifie \u00ab\u00a0forgeron\u00a0\u00bb. Ce nom est directement li\u00e9 \u00e0 la profession qu&rsquo;il patronne. On le retrouve dans des noms de famille ga\u00e9liques comme <em>MacGowan<\/em> (fils du forgeron).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fonction :<\/strong> Gobannus est le dieu du <strong>m\u00e9tal<\/strong>, de la <strong>forge<\/strong> et de l&rsquo;<strong>artisanat<\/strong>. En tant que tel, il est une divinit\u00e9 de la cr\u00e9ation et de la transformation. Son culte \u00e9tait essentiel pour les Gaulois, dont la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9tait fortement d\u00e9pendante des outils, des armes et des objets de fer. Il prot\u00e9geait non seulement les forgerons, mais aussi l&rsquo;ensemble de la communaut\u00e9 qui b\u00e9n\u00e9ficiait de leur travail.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Culte et repr\u00e9sentations<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Inscriptions :<\/strong> Des inscriptions d\u00e9di\u00e9es \u00e0 Gobannus ont \u00e9t\u00e9 retrouv\u00e9es sur des autels et des monuments, principalement dans les r\u00e9gions de Gaule (notamment en Rhenanie) et de Grande-Bretagne. Ces inscriptions montrent qu&rsquo;il \u00e9tait parfois associ\u00e9 \u00e0 d&rsquo;autres divinit\u00e9s, locales ou romaines.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Repr\u00e9sentations :<\/strong> Il est g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement repr\u00e9sent\u00e9 avec les attributs d&rsquo;un forgeron : un <strong>marteau<\/strong>, des <strong>pinces<\/strong> ou un <strong>tablier<\/strong>. Une c\u00e9l\u00e8bre inscription de la Gaule du Nord le montre avec une enclume.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Syncr\u00e9tisme avec le panth\u00e9on romain<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c0 l&rsquo;\u00e9poque gallo-romaine, les Gaulois ont souvent assimil\u00e9 leurs dieux \u00e0 des divinit\u00e9s romaines. <strong>Gobannus<\/strong> a \u00e9t\u00e9 principalement associ\u00e9 \u00e0 <strong>Vulcain<\/strong>, le dieu romain du feu, de la forge et des volcans. Cette assimilation se comprend facilement par leurs fonctions communes et leur lien avec le travail du m\u00e9tal et la chaleur de la forge.
